Higher Energy Density, Lower Cost Cells

Nanoscale Components has developed a novel, cost-effective process to prelithiate lithium-ion battery electrodes. This process enables cell manufacturers to use high-specific capacity materials such as silicon to make cells with higher energy density and improve the cycle life of those materials. High performance has been demonstrated in cells with anodes that hold more than 1500 mAh/g, four times the capacity of the graphite anodes that are currently used in cells today.

Nanoscale Components has already demonstrated a factor of 250,000 process scalability in roll-to-roll manufacturing and is currently working with materials manufacturers and cell makers to commercialize the process.
